| One of the world’s most famous museums because of its wonderful collection of paintings and old statues. Its collection of paintings from the fourteenth century and the Renaissance contains some timeless masterpieces. These include works by Giotto, Simone Martini, Piero della Francesca, Beato Angelico, Filippo Lippi, Botticelli, Mantegna, Correggio, Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Caravaggio. |

Accademia |
| The Gallery owes its enormous popularity to the presence of some of Michelangelo’s sculptures: The Prisoners, Saint Matthew and in particular the famous David, which was brought here in 1873, and for which the specially designed tribune in the Gallery was made. |
